Library materials may be checked out from the Information Desk with a library card. For BRCC employees and students, your free ID card (issued by Card Services in G167) serves as your library card. For community members, the library information desk can issue you a free library card with a driver’s license. Persons under 18 will need a parent’s signature. As a community service, the Houff Library is open to the public free of charge.
Items can be renewed by calling the library or logging into your library account via Primo.
If an item is more than 30 days overdue, your library and BRCC accounts will be blocked. This will prevent you from checking out anything else from the library, registering for classes, receiving your grades, transcripts, etc. To have your block released, return your overdue item(s) and inform the library staff when you do so. If you have lost the library item(s) that are overdue, please ask any library staff member for instructions.
Physical items can be placed on hold. This can be done if you would like to have an item available for easy pickup at the Information Desk or if someone else has an item that you would like when they are done with it. Placing an item on hold can be done through the catalog or by contacting the Information Desk. All holds will expire within five working days of being contacted that the item is available.
Some instructors place items on Reserve at the Information Desk for students. Most are textbooks for classes; others are items that instructors want you to read or watch in the library in addition to the textbook.
