1. Go to the Articles/Databases link on the library homepage.
2. Use the subject dropdown menu to filter the A-Z results to focus in on "Psychology" databases. Scroll down and click on PsycArticles.
3. To access the advanced search menu, click on "Advanced search" underneath the search box, or "New search" in the left-hand menu.
4. You can immediately begin search process. Type your search terms in the first box. If you put search terms in quotes the system will know to look for the phrase "personality development" in that order. The system will also provide search suggestions that may be helpful to narrow your research topic.
Then, add in your journal title in the second box--use the dropdown menu to the right of the second field to change the filter to "Journal title/source." This will force your search to look for resources within journals that match those terms.
You can also scroll down and use the "Publication Name" filter to search for a specific journal title.
5. You can use the filters below the search box to further refine your results. Use the "Date range" filter to look for articles within a specific span of time. It is also best to click on the box for "Full Text" to make sure your results include the full text articles. Check with your professor to see if they require peer-reviewed articles.
6. You can double check your results to make sure the article is in the correctly assigned journal by looking at the "Published in" line below the title.
